Salicylic acid is generated from willow bark and is a beta hydroxy acid, which means the hydroxy and acid halves of the molecule are separated by two carbon atoms, as opposed to one carbon atom in an alpha hydroxy acid.
Salicylic acid gel penetrates deep into the skin to do its function, and it is one of acne’s most vehement foes. This lotion is extremely effective at treating acne, particularly blackheads and whiteheads.
